Psychographics takes into account the audiences opinions, values, personality, interests, attitudes and lifestyles. This area of research focuses in on interests, attitudes, and opinions. Psychographic studies of individuals or communities can be valuable in the fields of marketing, demographics, opinion research, prediction, and social research in general.
Demographic:
Demographic information is used in media marketing to classify an audience into age, gender, race and other categories. Demographics are broken into bands depending on peoples jobs or status. This is shown in this table. Luckily, horror films could be aimed a any of the letter codes, this is due to the fact that horror films appeal to such a wide audience. However some Thrillers do not appeal to all audiences such as a psychological thriller may not appeal to the E code as they could be less educated if they are unemployed so would not see the appeal in a psychological thriller. Main Brief:
For our Main Brief, we have decided that a psychographic of Mainstreamer's would be best suited, as they are more likely to follow the crowd and watch whatever genre is the most popular at the time. Horror is a very successful and popular genre at the moment, this will hopefully entice the Mainstreamers. From our points of view, we think that the demographic classes of B, C, D and E will be best suited as they are able to afford to go to the cinema, and have the money to spend purchasing the films.
