Institution Logos

As we want to create our own logo, we have decided to research different institution logos.

Lionsgate has two logos, their traditional logo and their logo specifically for horror films. The colour scheme of the Lionsgate logo is red with a hint of black, as they present danger and they link to the horror genre. Lionsgate is well known institution for producing the franchise Saw.

Universal is well known for producing horror films and is an American film company. They only have one logo, and it is universal for all of their films, including horror films.

Warner Bros is a conglomerate and is diagonally integrated, the company owns a various number of subsidiaries; for example, DC Entertainment and New Line Cinema. Warner Bros has several different variations of their traditional logo, all depending on the genre of the film. The logo for the horror film, has had the colour scheme changed to black and grey, which is far more suited to the genre of horror.

Blumhouse productions logo shows a theme of horror with the layout of the title of the logs and also the colour schemes used.

We have decided that for our company, we do not want to produce a logo that will be limiting ourselves to the horror genre, just like Lionsgate. So, we want to produce a logo that will suit all genres of film, but maybe with a colour scheme to suit the genre of horror. Also, as we are a British company, so we want to incorporate a design to show off that we are a British film company. We will design our logo based on the research that we have learnt about institution logos so far, and apply it to my own design.

Below,  are some of our sketches of our logo, as we are a British film company, we wanted our logo to incorporate famous London landmarks:

Out of all three designs, Chelsea and I both decided that the second design was our favourite, as it represented London and was the most eye-catching.

We then decided to take our design one step further, and develop it further. Firstly, we designed the logo using Serif Draw.
After, I added in the background colours and the final details, to give a professional look to our logo. This will be the main logo for IMCM Productions, as it is universal and could suit most genres of films.
Lastly, we altered out main logo, to match our horror of genre set for the main brief. We then changed the background colour to red because the colour red represents horror and is the most popular from our questionnaire.
