In order to make our opening more suited to our target audience, I have decided to look into some criticisms of the film Scream, as it is of the same genre as the opening we are going to produce. First of all, Scream has a rating of 7.2 on IMD, and there are plenty of comments saying how much people enjoyed the film, its un-expectancy and the narrative.
However, on the other hand, there is also a few critiques:
- An artificial and hypocritical effort to escape the artistic limitations of teenage Slasher films.
- Scream? Yawn, more like...
- Totally predictable and a step backwards
In response to these negative comments from Scream, we are going to have faster paced editing to try to keep our audience on the edge of their seats, and to keep the tension consistently high. In response the first criticism, we are going to try to keep our film as close to our genre and try to not to drift to far away from it.
Slasher films are a subgenre of horror films, typically involving a violent psychopath stalking and murdering several people. In order to make our film less predictable, we have decided to have a plot twist in our film.
